Year 2: Stibbington Residential

This year's trip takes place:  Wednesday 14th - Thursday 15th / Thursday 15th - Friday 16th June 2023

The Year 2 residential visit is completed locally at the amazing Stibbington Eco Centre.  The Centre has won many awards including the Quality Mark for Learning Outside the Classroom.

The residential visit to Stibbington will take place in the summer term after the children have completed their SATs. As we have such a large cohort it is split into two groups with one group going Wednesday to Thursday and the second group from Thursday to Friday for this 2 day and 1 night visit.

Whilst at the Stibbington Centre, the children take part in a range of activities which surround Eco life.  This includes becoming a part of the Eco Teams: Power Rangers, Garden Gang and Waste Wizards, to complete daily jobs to support living an eco life.  Alongside these jobs, the children also have a chance to support in the Crunchy Carrot Cafe as they set the tables and clear away at the end of each meal time.

When the children first arrive at the Stibbington Centre, they complete an activity within the grounds to get their bearings and begin to learn about all of the fabulous features that the centre provides.  In addition to this activity, during their stay, the children will take part in many eco inspired activities including eco art, pond dipping, mini beast hunting and shelter building.

All of the food that is provided on the visit is made fresh on site.  The food is all sources locally or even grown on site.

The meals themselves have been made with children in mind.

At breakfast time, children have the opportunity to have a cooked breakfast as well as enjoy cereals and toast.

For lunchtime, children are offered a range of sandwiches or home made pizza along with vegetable sticks and home made sausage rolls.

At dinner time the children have a main meal such as a Roast or Pasta dish and a pudding like apple crumble and custard.

As the food is all prepared and cooked on site, the team are able to cater for children with specific dietary needs or allergies in addition to vegetarian options.

As with all of our residential visits, we provide parents with a 'Kit List' so that you know what the children will need on their visit.

Please do not buy anything new for the visit.  The children will be spending most of their time outside in the mud and therefore will probably come home very dirty...sorry!

The cost of this visit is the cheapest of all our residentials, but includes the full board for 2 days and 1 night, transport to and from the centre, use of the minibus whilst in Stibbington and the expertise of the staff who run all of the daily sessions.
